How to Take Care Of & Install Your New TV

Whether you purchased a smart TV, OLED television, 8K TV, QLED TV, or an outdoor television, this is simple guide will help you get the most out of your new television and get years of quality viewing.

Carefully Select a Location

Before you even take your new television out of its box, decide on where the television will be placed. Ideally, your television should not be located in a high-traffic area. Not only will this ensure people aren’t blocking your view, but it will decrease the risk of someone bumping into it, toys hitting it, or food being splashed on it in the long run.

It is also important to place your television out of direct sunlight as much as possible. The more your television is in the sunlight, the brighter the screen will have to be in order for ideal viewing. Having a television is constantly on maximum brightness, can cause it to wear out more quickly and use more electricity to run.

Allow Space for Ventilation

As with all electronics, televisions produce heat when running. Ensure there is adequate space behind your TV for air to circulation and prevent your television from overheating.

Clean the Area

Whether you’re placing your TV on a console you already have or mourning it on a wall, cleaning the room and surrounding area before installing your television is a good idea. Keeping your TV dust-free and clean will help lead to optimal performance.

Carefully Unbox

When opening your television, we suggest having at least two people help. Be sure to have a solid, flat surface to place your TV on once you have removed it from the box.

Carefully install the TV to its stand or mount parts and avoid pinching or touching the screen while moving and installing the television.

Mount Your TV Properly

If you are mounting your TV on the wall, it’s vital to ensure that it is properly and securely mounted. Purchase a high-quality TV mount that is designed for your televisions size and weight.

Consider the height that you’ll be mounting your television at. Mounting a TV higher may help prevent the TV from being touched or possibly knocked over.

Carefully follow the manufacturer instructions for your television and mount to ensure everything is securely fastened.

Use a Quality Power Supply

Plugging your television into a power supply that is created for electronics is safer than plugging it directly into an outlet. Quality power supplies can protect your TV from being harmed by voltage spikes or power surges.

Ongoing Care for Your Television

Clean Your TV Regularly

You should dust your television and the area around it at least monthly. If your television needs to be cleaned, we suggest using a soft cloth, like a microfiber to clean your television. It’s not recommended to directly spray water on your television, but a cleaning spray intended for televisions can be a good idea to purchase.

Avoid Static Images

Avoid having a static image on your screen for a long period of time. With some types of televisions, you can run the risk of burning pixels if you leave one image on the screen for too long. No matter what type of TV you have though, we suggest turning your TV off when not in use to extend your TVs life and keep it performing at its best.

Regularly Check Cables & Connections

Every month or two, we suggest visually inspecting your HDMI cables and connections. Ensure none of the cords supplying your TV with power or connecting it supporting devices are starting to wear.
