What You Need to Know About Delivery

May 7, 2019 by Waverly Wilde

A good appliance can make a big difference. With new appliances from Howard’s we know you’ll be getting the foundation of a happy home for a long time – but when it comes to appliance shopping, picking out that item of your dreams is only half the battle.
Before you can get started using your new appliance, you have to make sure it’s properly delivered and installed in your home, and it’s important to prep your space for the big delivery. Our team will take care of all the heavy lifting, but there are a few things you should do by delivery day to protect your home and make the whole process easier.

At Howard’s, we’re always working to make customers happy. We offer next-day delivery on all in-stock items, as long as you buy them before 5:00 p.m. That way, you’ll never have to wait to get your new appliances! It makes appliance buying simple, and you won’t have to waste any more time with your old appliances. If you’re not sure what to do with those old washers and refrigerators, we can haul them away for only twenty dollars per appliance, to make room for the newest addition to your home.

Plan Arrival Times

When you plan your delivery, make sure that an adult will be home to receive your appliance at the expected time and date of delivery. There’s nothing worse than missing a delivery time and having to wait for the truck to come back around the next day!

We will call you the night before your delivery and give you a three-hour delivery time window. If you plan to be out of the house, just ask us to give you a courtesy call an hour before the truck arrives, so you have time to get home and receive your appliance. To avoid unnecessary delays, make sure you’re available right when it’s scheduled to arrive.

Measure Up

Before the delivery team arrives, you’ll want to make sure there’s enough space to navigate your new appliance easily through your home. Measure any doorways, entryways, and hallways that installers will need to carry it through. If the appliance is too wide for your main entryway, you’ll need to consider another plan of action for getting it into the house. Knowing the most efficient route for the delivery team and being able to point them in the right direction can save lots of time and hassle.

Consider Obstacles

Be sure to let the Howard’s delivery team know about any obstacles they may be dealing with when bringing your appliance inside. If the appliance will be placed on the second story of a building, for example, or if there are any tight corners they’ll have to navigate, just let our team members know so they can use the appropriate equipment. Be sure to keep any plants or pets safely out of the way as your appliance is brought inside.

Prep Your Old Appliance

Howard’s does all the dirty work of hauling away your old appliances, but make sure you’re ready to say goodbye by the time we get there! Pull all the food out of your fridge and make sure you haven’t left any loose socks in your dryer. You don’t want the excitement of a new appliance ruined by realizing grandma’s flatware set was still in the dishwasher when it was taken away! Carefully go through your old appliances top to bottom before bidding them farewell, and unplug what you can to make the hauling process quicker and easier.

Double Check Your Delivery

Before signing for the delivery, make sure the item isn’t damaged, and that it’s the same item you ordered. Our team is careful to make sure every order is just right, but if there’s a mistake or any damage, we need to be notified before the delivery crew leaves, so we can correct the problem ASAP. Be sure to have your order and model numbers on hand and double check them against the numbers on your new appliances, just in case there was a mix-up.

When the time comes to get a new appliance, you can trust Howard’s to get it to your home safe and sound. If you follow these tips before and during the big delivery, you’ll be enjoying a fully functional and newly upgraded home in no time!
